Military and Veteran Benefit Information

Florida Southern College is proud to be recognized as a military friendly school!

Tuition Assistance funds are available as a source of assistance for active duty military. Please contact your Education Services Officer for more information. For nonmilitary financial aid assistance please contact Marianne Brighton in the financial aid office.

Students do not apply for VA benefits through 果冻传媒. This is done through . 果冻传媒 encourages service members to speak with their Education Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their Military Service prior to enrolling.

If a student has not already applied for their benefits, this is where we can direct them. If they need further instructions they can call the VA Educational Benefits Hotline: 1-888-442-4551. These VA Benefit counselors only specialize in Education Benefits and are extremely helpful.

The college Cohort Default Rate of 5.8 is well below the national average of 9.7.

When a student graduates or withdraws, credit balances are refunded, along with any returnable deposits. It will be 果冻传媒's policy to return any unearned TA funds on a proportional basis through at least the 60 percent portion of the period for which the funds were provided. The following 100 day semester schedule will be used.

  • Day 1-3 100% returned
  • Day 4-10 90% returned
  • Day 11-25 50% returned
  • Day 26-50 25% returned
  • Day 51-60 12% returned (60% course completed)
  • Day 61 zero returned

In instances when a Service member stops attending due to a military service obligation, Florida Southern College will work with the affected Service member to identify solutions that will not result in student debt for the returned portion.

果冻传媒 Accepts:

Ch. 30 (Montgomery GI Bill), Ch. 33 (Post 9/11), Ch. 35 (DEA 鈥 Disabled), Ch. 1606 (Another form of Montgomery), Ch. 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation)

Students will not see VA benefits on their FA Award Letter. If students are using Ch. 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill (the only benefit that pays the college funds directly) it will show up on their tuition statement as, 鈥淎nticipated VA Payment.鈥

To be able to add VA benefits to the tuition statement on the 果冻传媒 portal, all we need from students is a current Certificate of Eligibility. This is basically a letter that the VA sends the student after their benefits have been, 鈥渁ctivated鈥 i.e. a parent has transferred them into the student's name, or if the student is the veteran, they have notified the VA their intent to attend college. This is sent to them, in the mail, about a month after they go online (see above) and submit the VA benefit application.

For all benefits other than the Post 9/11 GI Bill, the student will receive payments sent directly to them. These fund amounts are dictated by the VA and are usually based on the number of hours a student is enrolled for a term.

Post 9/11 funding is based on a yearly cap and the percentage of entitlement they have. The cap spans August to July. The amount the college will be funded depends on the amount of aid the student has deducted. More information on the Post 9/11 bill may be found at .

Florida Southern College also accepts VA disability benefits including DEA and vocational rehab.

For more information on DEA Chapter 35 benefits, please visit for current rates and required information. DEA Disability and Vocational rehab benefits are paid monthly directly to the student. The college does not receive the funding. For every whole month a student is enrolled, they can expect a payment for the length of their benefits. For partial months, they receive a reduced payment.

Florida Southern College refrains from high-pressure recruitment tactics such as making multiple unsolicited contacts (3 or more), including contacts by phone, email, or in-person, or engage in same-day recruitment and registration for the purpose of securing Service member enrollments.
