How ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Shaped Three Olympic Dreams

When you picture yourself at college, you might imagine late-night study sessions, exciting internships, and making lifelong friends. But what if your college experience could lead you to the global stage of the Paris Olympic Games? For three Florida Southern College alumni, their time at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ did just that.
Dylan Travis ’16, Ludovico Viberti ’22, and Kyle Micallef ’23 all had one thing in common: they chose Florida Southern College. And that decision became the foundation for their journey to the Paris Olympics.
Dylan Travis: USA 3x3 Basketball
Dylan Travis’ basketball journey reached new heights at Florida Southern College, where he was part of the 2015 NCAA National Championship basketball team. ¹û¶³´«Ã½’s competitive environment and strong basketball program provided him with the experience and confidence to pursue his passion beyond college, eventually leading him to represent the United States in Men’s 3x3 basketball at the Paris Olympics. The skills and discipline Dylan developed at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ played a key role in shaping his athletic career.
For Ludovico, the decision to attend Florida Southern College was pivotal. ¹û¶³´«Ã½’s strong swimming program, combined with a supportive community, offered him an environment to excel both in the classroom and in the pool. In 2022, Ludovico became the NCAA National Champion in the 100 breaststroke, a testament to his hard work and the college’s commitment to nurturing athletic talent. His experience at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ was instrumental in his development as an athlete, preparing him to compete at the highest level for Italy in the Paris Olympics.
Kyle Micallef: Malta Swimming
Kyle Micallef found the perfect balance of academic and athletic excellence at Florida Southern College. During his time at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, Kyle thrived in a competitive yet supportive environment, which helped him grow both as a student and an athlete. In 2023, Kyle became the NCAA National Champion in the 50 freestyle, and he was also named an Academic All-American, highlighting his commitment to excellence in the pool and in the classroom. The foundation he built at ¹û¶³´«Ã½ contributed to his journey to the Paris Olympics, where he represented Malta as one of their top swimmers.
